Q&A: Has onlyfans had a positive or negative impact on the world?
Questions Asked on Reddit
Has onlyfans had a positive or negative impact on the world?
Is it a modern day faustian pact where creators gain material wealth in exchange for their soul?
Is it a cheap imitation of human intimacy that offers a cure to loneliness and isolation but really only worsens this?
Does it empower creators or demean them?
Would the hedonist philosophers approve of it?
My Answers
We don’t have enough longitudinal data to know whether OF has had a negative or positive impact on the world.
It doesn’t need to be that way. I don’t know the “soul” you’re referring to but if you’re talking about ethical conduct, then no, there’s ways to live morally and not be consumed by material wealth. I save and budget my money with the possibility of Onlyfans being a temporary source of income. I don’t think it’s sustainable in the long term.
As I said before, no longitudinal data on that — I personally offer intimacy in that I provide emotional comfort, but I also try to support their efforts in the real world and finding true intimacy. I try to help build their confidence rather than make them dependent on my comforting presence. I don’t foster illusions or fantasies. You can say prostitution is a cheap imitation of intimacy as well but it’s called the oldest profession for a reason..
It empowers creators because it allows them to be independent and be in the position to choose what they take on in terms of content. They aren’t forced to accept horrible treatment from employers which I unfortunately have had to do before. They aren’t tied to an agency or a corporation and can work on their own time and hours. All the stuff you can say about onlyfans, you can pretty much say about any other sfw content creating profession. People just pick on it because they believe themselves to have a high minded morality and simply don’t like sex work. I personally felt more demeaned as a human being working at a newspaper by how I was treated. I feel living in poverty and having to constantly borrow money from friends was more demeaning than what I do now. I’m now in the position to help others who are financially struggling.
